Structure
Four mandatory courses plus a minimum of 9 credits from the optional basket

Fine print

  • If a student has already completed some of the mandatory courses, or equivalent credits, as part of their major curriculum, an equal number of credits must be taken additionally from the optional basket.
  • Equivalent courses within the student's own major discipline are not counted towards the minor requirement.

Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering

Students from other departments may take a minor in the Mechanical stream. Four mandatory courses establish manufacturing, drawing, mechanics and thermodynamics, and an optional basket then extends into solids, fluids, heat transfer, design and industrial engineering. The structure is deliberately broad so that students can steer the minor towards either the thermal-fluids or the design-and-manufacturing side of the discipline.
